How NFC works
One tap. That’s it.
NFC lets a compatible smartphone read a tiny chip when it is brought very close to it. Tapzy uses that simple interaction to send people straight to the digital action your business wants.

02 — CONNECT
The phone reads the tag
The passive NFC chip is detected at close range. It does not need its own battery or Bluetooth pairing.
03 — OPEN
The digital action appears
The phone can open the programmed destination — for example Google Reviews, WhatsApp, contact details, a website, social profile or menu.
What is actually inside a Tapzy product?
The physical product contains a small NFC tag. The tag is passive, which means it does not need a battery. When a compatible phone comes close, the phone provides the energy needed to read the information stored on the tag.
For most Tapzy products, that information is used to direct the phone to a specific digital destination. The NFC technology is the bridge between the physical object in front of the customer and the online action you want them to take.

Does the customer need an app?
No Tapzy app is required for a normal NFC tap on a compatible smartphone. Most modern smartphones support NFC. On some Android devices, NFC may need to be enabled in the phone settings. Device behaviour can vary by model, operating system and settings.
Where should the customer tap?
NFC works at very short range, so the phone needs to come close to the marked Tapzy NFC point. The exact antenna position differs between phones. In general, moving the upper/back area of the phone slowly over the NFC point for a moment is more reliable than tapping quickly and pulling away.
Will it work through a phone case?
Many normal thin phone cases work fine. Very thick cases, metal cases, magnetic accessories or cards stored against the phone can reduce NFC performance. If a tap does not register, remove the obstruction and try again.
What happens if the phone does not support NFC?
Where appropriate, Tapzy designs can include a QR-code fallback. That gives customers another way to reach the same digital destination without weakening the one-tap NFC experience for compatible phones.
Do web links need internet?
The phone can read the NFC tag without the tag itself having internet access. However, if the programmed action opens an online page — such as Google, WhatsApp, a website or social media — the phone needs a working internet connection to load that service.
A practical note about NFC stickers and metal
Tapzy’s standard PET NFC stickers are intended for suitable non-metal surfaces. Standard NFC tags can perform poorly when placed directly on metal. If your project requires metal placement, tell us before ordering so the correct solution can be considered rather than assuming a standard sticker will work.
What NFC does not do
NFC does not automatically give a Tapzy product access to someone’s phone, contacts or private data. A standard Tapzy tag provides the programmed destination when the phone is intentionally brought close enough to read it. It does not need to pair over Bluetooth or install software on the customer’s device.
Tapzy prepares it before it reaches you.
For programmed Tapzy products, the destination is set and the NFC function is tested before dispatch. That means your customer-facing product is intended to arrive ready for the job rather than as a blank NFC tag you still need to configure.
