NFC Cards for Restaurants: Menus, Reviews, WiFi and More

Practical ways restaurants can use NFC cards for menus, reviews, WiFi and customer communication.

NFC cards for restaurants can remove small moments of friction: finding the menu, asking for the WiFi password, searching for the restaurant on Google or typing a WhatsApp number.

The best restaurant NFC setup is usually simple. Use one card for one clear action rather than trying to make every tap open ten different options.

1. Open a digital menu

A menu NFC card can open a mobile-friendly PDF or webpage. This works well when menus change often, when you want different lunch and dinner pages, or when printed menus are not practical for every table.

For a permanent table touchpoint, an NFC Menu Display Stand may be more visible. A card is useful when staff hand the menu link to the customer or when the same card moves between tables.

2. Ask for Google Reviews at the right moment

Restaurants have several natural review moments: after the bill is paid, when staff check whether the meal was enjoyable, or when a returning customer is clearly satisfied.

An NFC card can open the review page directly so the customer does not have to search for the restaurant name.

3. Make guest WiFi easier

Instead of repeating a password, an NFC touchpoint can lead guests to WiFi instructions or a suitable setup page. Keep the experience easy to understand and make sure your network details remain secure.

4. Start a WhatsApp conversation

Restaurants can use WhatsApp for reservations, takeaway enquiries, function bookings or catering. An NFC card can open a pre-addressed WhatsApp conversation so customers do not have to save the number first.

5. Link to bookings or events

If your restaurant uses an online reservation system, loyalty form, private-function enquiry page or event calendar, an NFC card can take customers straight there while they are already on site.

Where should restaurant NFC cards go?

  • host or reception desk;
  • table service folder;
  • bill presenter;
  • takeaway counter;
  • bar counter;
  • hotel or guesthouse restaurant reception.

Keep NFC away from metal surfaces unless the product is specifically designed for them, as metal can affect NFC performance.

Do restaurants need an app?

No Tapzy app is required for a normal customer tap on a compatible smartphone. The phone opens the destination associated with the NFC card.

Card vs sticker vs stand

Cards are portable. Stands are visible and fixed to a customer moment. Stickers are compact and work on suitable non-metal surfaces. The best format depends on how staff and customers move through the venue.

Build the simplest useful journey

Do not add NFC because it looks modern. Add it where it saves the customer a step. If customers already have a printed menu in front of them, a menu tap may add little value. But if they repeatedly ask for WiFi, bookings or a review link, NFC can solve a real problem.
